Willow Rakiah FasickArcana Botanica explores tarot through the lens of the living world. This work centers on the relationship between plants and perceptionhow culture, environment, and use shape meaning over time.
Rather than relying on inherited symbolism alone, this system looks to plants as active participants: species that grow in specific conditions, respond to pressure, and offer themselves in practical ways. Each selection reflects not only cultural memory, but ecological behaviorhow something takes root, adapts, persists, or yields.
The deck is structured as a complete system, with attention to seasons, time of day, and the environments in which these plants are encountered. These elements inform the tone and expression of each card.
The Major Arcana moves from spring into spring again, following a full calendar year of growth, decline, and return. Each plant is shaped by where it grows, how it lives, and what it offers. So, too, is the card that represents it.
