Proxyukiyoe (Custom)

Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese art which flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of subjects such as female beauties; kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers; scenes from history and folk tales; travel scenes and landscapes; flora and fauna; and erotica. The term "Ukiyo-e" translates directly to "Pictures of the Floating World". This space mainly features artworks from the Ukiyo-e Shin Hanga and Sosaku Hanga movements from 1915-1990s. Prominent artists from that time include Yoshida Hiroshi, Toshi Yoshida, Kawase Hasui, Koho and Tomikichiro Tokuriki.
